An Introduction to Blogging
A Instructions
1 Go to the Blogger website, and follow the instructions on the screen. Make sure your blog is in English.
2 Click on start now.
3 To create an account, type user name, first name, email address, and new password, and retype password. Remember to write down your password and the name of the blog, otherwise you will never find it again. (If you have an account, sign in).
4 Click on create a new blog in your blogs on the right side of the screen.
5 Type an introduction about yourself into your blog.
6 Save the blog.
7 Exit blogger.com.
8 Type your blogger address http:// (?????.blogspot.com) in the search box to make sure that you can access it again.
9 Give your teacher the address of your blogspot so he/she can print out your blog and correct it.
B Uses of Blogs
1 Keeping a diary
2 Sending news to your friends and family
3 Informing people about events, e.g. news about a club
4 Keeping a class informed about class work, quizzes, exams etc
5 Keeping a record of your homework or original work.
6 Displaying school messages and news.
7 Storing photos online, so that all your friends and family can see them. You will have to download Picassa.
8 Storing audio and video blogs.
9 Publishing Your Work
10 Working on projects with students from around the world, e.g. Argentina, Brazil, Hungary and the U.S.A..
11 Advertising a company, e.g. an online IELTS course.
12 Storing information about the history of your family, with stories about each family member, photos, qualifications, video clips, a family tree and other other interesting information.
13 You can blog in many languages apart from English.
C Blogging Your 162 Work
For the rest of the semester, you will be busy writing paragraphs, reflections on making your presentation, writing a research essay, and completing your presentation, before handing it in in book form.
Once you have finished your work and it has been corrected, you will be able to post it in your own blog, the international student showcase blog, and this one.
D Using Windows Live Writer
If you are using an edublogs blog, you can download Windows Live Writer into your laptop or computer, type your work, and then post tables, photos, videos, maps and documents into your blog.
