1 Introduction

There are many Internet sites that deal with academic word lists. These contain information about some of the most common words used in academic and general English.

2 General List

The general service list contains some of the most used words in English. You can print out the list if you click on http://jbauman.com/gsl.html. This list is for general English and includes words that you know already.

3 Vocabulary Exercises

4 Searching for Academic Word Lists

5 Ogden’s Basic English Word List – Alphabetic 850.

Ogden’s list contains 850 of the most common English words. Try to learn them.

9 Specific Vocabulary
